The goal of testing and assessment in teaching is to systematically and accurately collect information about the learning process and results of students, thereby serving as a basis for adjusting teachers' teaching activities and students' learning activities. Regular assessment in teaching helps teachers grasp the level of understanding, the ability to apply knowledge as well as the difficulties that students encounter, thereby adjusting teaching methods accordingly; at the same time, helping students recognize their own progress, proactively adjust their learning methods and develop self-study capacity. The study proposes a process for developing regular assessment tests for Physics and illustrates this process in teaching the topic “Thermal Physics” (Physics 12). When constructing regular assessment tests, exercises and questions must ensure clarity, be linked to practice, and have the ability to differentiate between subjects, be diverse in form and level of cognition, in order to comprehensively assess the knowledge, skills and abilities of learners.
