While numerous studies have explored the process of developing thematic teaching units, research focusing on the design of a thematic monthly teaching plan specifically addressing “Earth and sky” for preschool children aged 3-6 remains limited. Building upon established theories of curriculum planning, this study constructs an illustrative thematic monthly plan for “Earth and sky”, encompassing the following elements: identification of objectives, content networks, and activity networks. Evaluation results from 20 early childhood education experts indicate that the thematic monthly plan was highly rated for its rationality, scientific validity, feasibility, and effectiveness. This research provides a concrete example for preschool teachers in designing thematic monthly teaching plans for “Earth and sky,” facilitating children's construction of a foundational scientific knowledge base that seamlessly transitions to primary education within the framework of the general education curriculum. Furthermore, the findings serve as a basis for subsequent experimental studies aimed at assessing the impact of the “Earth and sky” thematic monthly plan on children's development within the preschool setting.
