The role of social work activities in schools is increasingly pivotal in fostering academic success and cultivating a positive learning environment. Despite numerous international and Vietnamese studies on the functions of these practitioners, Vietnam lacks specific legal designations for their roles. This study synthesizes international approaches to the Vietnamese context, highlighting the responsibilities of school social workers. The findings underscore the positive impact of these roles, emphasizing a comprehensive focus on social work functions (prevention, intervention, rehabilitation, and development), with a particular emphasis on preventive measures. Most approaches highlight interdisciplinary coordination in addressing schoolrelated issues. Consequently, this research provides a foundation for proposing a distinct position and title for individuals engaged in social work activities within educational settings in Vietnam.
