Vietnam’s 2018 General Education Curriculum emphasizes competencebased learning, calling for interactive approaches that enable knowledge construction. In secondary Mathematics, cooperative learning is considered a key pathway to foster mathematical reasoning, communication, problem solving, and collaboration competencies. This paper conducts a structured literature review of national and international studies on cooperative learning in mathematics education. The reviewed evidence indicates three major strands: (1) constructivist and socio-interactionist foundations and the core principles of cooperation; (2) instructional models such as STAD, TGT, Jigsaw, Think-Pair-Share, and Group Investigation; and (3) classroom techniques (e.g., placemat, jigsaw steps, learning stations, peer feedback) and process assessment tools. The paper proposes a three-layer frameworktheory, method, and technique - to support lesson design, group interaction orchestration, and evidence-based assessment in secondary Mathematics.
