Khảo sát hệ thống từ vựng và bài tập về từ ngữ trong hai bộ giáo trình tiếng Việt cho người nước ngoài hiện nay

The vocabulary system and exercises in a textbook are important tools for developing students’ lexical resources, improving their language acquisition and exploitation capacity, thereby enhancing their communication competence. In this article, we conducted a survey on the vocabulary systems and exercises of two Vietnamese language textbooks for foreigners currently in use in Vietnam. Our objective is to evaluate the vocabulary systems from both quantitative and qualitative perspectives, analyze the cognitive levels demonstrated by the vocabulary exercise systems, in order to propose some recommendations to improve the existing textbooks or provide guidance for new ones. A number of methods were combined in this study, including document analysis and synthesis, statistical analysis, classification, and comparison. The initial results showed that there was no consistency in the selection of vocabulary, which lacked both quantitative and qualitative control. The vocabulary exercise systems mainly focused on low-level cognitive skills using traditional practice methods.
