Currently, the Comprehensive General Education Program is being implemented with textbooks for the final grades, including Grades 5, 9, and 12. Following the consistent directive spirit of developing the 2018 Comprehensive General Education Program, all subjects for these grade levels must simultaneously inherit from previous programs while undergoing revisions and additions to introduce new elements into the teaching content. For the subject of Literature, detective fiction is a new genre introduced into the curriculum. This has caused considerable challenges for teachers in their teaching practices. This article explores the origin, development, and some poetics of detective fiction, thereby initially proposing several requirements and orientations for guiding students in approaching this new literary genre, in alignment with the innovations and general directions of the Ministry of Education and Training. The proposed requirements and orientations in this article serve as a foundation for teachers to select and organize teaching activities for comprehending detective fiction. At the same time, they provide a basis for further research and the development of specific and effective solutions for both teachers and students in engaging with and decoding this genre.
