Teaching life skills to 5-6 year old children through play activities is a crucial requirement of preschool education, contributing to their holistic development and preparing them for first grade. This study uses a questionnaire-based survey combined with interviews with administrators and teachers at several preschools in Hanoi to assess their awareness, current situation, influencing factors, and to test methods of teaching life skills through play activities. The results show that administrators and teachers are highly aware of the importance of life skills education; however, implementation in practice is not uniform. Many aspects, such as designing play activities with life skills education goals, organizing self-protection scenarios, and coordinating with parents, are not carried out regularly. Furthermore, the level of influence of various factors is analyzed to propose six measures to improve the effectiveness of these activities. The proposed measures were assessed as having a high degree of necessity and feasibility, with the most notable being strengthening professional guidance and teacher training. The research results indicate that to improve implementation effectiveness, preschools need to simultaneously implement management measures, teacher training, improve the play environment, and enhance coordination between families and schools.
