An integrated approach yields positive educational outcomes, most notably through integrated teaching. In this approach, learning content is neither presented nor received in isolation; instead, it involves continuous connection, interweaving, transformation, and integration, spanning from individual units of knowledge to lessons and themes. However, the application of this integrated perspective remains limited in both research and practice concerning school-based curriculum development. Based on a literature review to identify research gaps, an analysis of the integration potential of the Grade 10 Language Arts curriculum under the 2018 General Education Program, and an examination of the prevailing conditions in current high schools, this paper proposes a system of integrated themes aligned with the Language Arts content and expected learning outcomes of the national Grade 10 Language Arts curriculum. The paper also establishes criteria to guide the implementation of an integrated school-based Grade 10 Language Arts curriculum throughout an academic year. This curriculum framework can be provided to schools to guide the development of annual Grade 10 Language Arts teaching plans and the implementation and management of Language Arts teaching based on an integrated approach throughout the academic year. Schools can flexibly adjust the school-based curriculum framework to suit their specific conditions and best meet the learners’ needs.
