Sử dụng sách khổ lớn để phát triển kĩ năng nói cho trẻ 5-6 tuổi tại một số trường mầm non của thành phố Cần Thơ

As a core language skill, it is essential to develop speaking skills for children since they begin to observe, learn and explore the environment around them. Teaching children to speak, express their thoughts and feelings accurately and clearly to listeners is considered one of the important tasks. Many studies have been conducted with the aim of developing speaking skills for children, in which the use of large-sized books, or Big Books (BB) has long attracted educators’ attention. This article presents the theoretical basis regarding speaking skills of 5-6 year old children, Big books and the results of using Big books to boost speaking skills for children at some kindergartens in Can Tho city. Thanks to large images, vivid content and highly interactive storytelling, Big books not only help expand children’s vocabulary but also enhance their ability to express themselves and increase their confidence when speaking.
