Tóm tắt

Child maltreatment is a critical issue affecting children's physical and psychological well-being, yet many remain undetected due to cultural stigma, limited awareness, and inadequate intervention mechanisms. Schools, where children spend a significant portion of their time, have the potential to identify and support abused children. This study, conducted in eight secondary schools in Bac Ninh province, explores the gaps in child abuse identification and intervention within the school system. Findings reveal that teachers and students often fail to recognize emotional abuse and neglect, schools lack professional psychological support services, and children hesitate to disclose. To address these challenges, the study proposes key interventions: establishing school-based psychological counseling units, training teachers to detect and respond to abuse, creating confidential reporting channels, and educating students about their rights. Strengthening the role of schools in child protection requires a multi-sectoral approach involving educators, policymakers, and child welfare organizations. By implementing these measures, schools can become safer environments that effectively support children experiencing abuse. These proposals not only aim to improve the school psychological counseling system but also promote close coordination between schools, families and social organizations, contributing to building a safe education system.
