Tóm tắt
Self-directed learning is the initiative and responsibility of learners to determine their needs, goals, learning strategies, and self-assessment of their results. Selfdirected learning has been considered an essential skill for students in the 21st century. At present, the emergence of generative artificial intelligence, typically large language models such as ChatGPT, has brought tremendous potential in supporting students’ self-directed learning. This paper presents an overview of self-directed learning, student self-directed learning in the context of technology, and the potential of generative artificial intelligence in education in general and in supporting self-directed learning for students. Subsequently, research directions are proposed to investigate the relationship between self-directed learning and the impact/ support of GenAI in Vietnam.
