The training of special education teachers today requires a shift from traditional theory-based models to integrated models that combine theory and practice, in order to meet the practical demands of inclusive education. The training practices at Hanoi Metropolitan University have undergone appropriate transformations that need to be systematically analyzed. The study shows that integrated training enables special education students to develop professional competencies more comprehensively, particularly through internships, real-world engagement, and pedagogical scenario-based training. The findings contribute to the reform of teacher education programs, proposing a model closely linked to practical settings that can be replicated at other teacher training institutions. The study also highlights key challenges related to practicum settings, instructional staff, and support policies.
