Đề xuất thiết kế môi trường lớp học theo chương trình giáo dục chức năng BASICS3 cho trẻ khuyết tật vừa và nặng
Tóm tắt
Children with moderate to severe disabilities require functional educational programs to develop life skills and enhance independence. Basics3 is a comprehensive functional education program widely utilized in California, USA, and has been implemented in Vietnam since 2015. However, the effectiveness of the program's implementation heavily depends on the design of the classroom environment. Using a practice framework development research design based on a literature review and expert consultation (Kaplan, 1992; Weinstein, 1993), this study offers guidelines for designing classroom environments based on the Basics3 functional curriculum. Designing a classroom environment according to the Basics3 program is not merely a basic physical arrangement but necessitates a shift in teachers' pedagogical mindsets. By establishing clear spatial boundaries, applying color-coding corresponding to the five core functional domains, and strongly integrating visual communication tools such as personalized schedules or procedural charts, the classroom environment can become a powerful teaching tool. This study contributes by proposing design orientations for classroom environments aligned with the Basics3 functional curriculum. However, a key limitation is that it is not an empirical study quantitatively measuring the effectiveness of Basics3 functional curriculum or children's progress resulting from these environmental arrangements and adaptations. This limitation also highlights directions for future research proposed by this paper.
