John Dewey (1859-1952) was an outstanding American philosopher, psychologist and educational reformer. John Dewey's perspective on educational methods plays an important role in his educational philosophy, which contains suggestive values and can be applied to the innovation of Marxist-Leninist Philosophy. In this article, the author focuses on analyzing John Dewey's perspective on educational methods, thereby offering some suggestions for the renewal of Marxist-Leninist Philosophy in Vietnam today. The reform of higher education methods, especially Marxist-Leninist philosophical education, must be in the spirit of upholding science and democracy, linking theory with practice, promoting learners’ creativity and autonomy.
