Digital transformation of education and research institutions, where knowledge is created and disseminated, is an inevitable trend to address challenges in innovation, competitiveness, and sustainable development in the digital age. Identifying the key success factors of digital transformation is a topic of interest within the research community. This research clarifies the role and influence of organizational culture in developing digital transformation competence, thus improving the feasibility and sustainability of digital transformation activities in education and research institutions. As a result, this research proposes cultural practices that need to be implemented to improve the success of digital transformation. Contextualizing the recommendations according to the type of organizational culture and aspects of digital transformation competences enhances the applicability of the research results.
