In the General Education Program in Language Arts 2018, the first appearance of the comic genre marked the recognition of educators about the role and significance of this literary genre for language development for students. In comics, the integration of text channels (story content) and picture channels (illustrations) creates a special opportunity for students to experience and visually explore elements such as behavior, attitude, and gestures of characters in the story. Therefore, by teaching this type of literature, teachers can integrate practical lessons for primary students on how to behave, express feelings and emotions in communication associated with close situations with them, helping to develop speech culture and emotional intelligence for primary students. Research results show that, with a combination of text and images, students easily recognize and understand emotions, as well as practice empathy. The comic books will provide a variety of social situations, from simple to complex, supporting students to practice their ability to read, imagine and socialize.
