Hoạt động phát triển chuyên môn của giáo viên phổ thông môn tiếng Anh trong bối cảnh đại dịch Covid-19

In the era of technology development and the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic, teaching has shifted from physical to virtual form. If a teacher did not stay informed of new knowledge and technologies, they would never be able to manage online and offline classes successfully. This paper aims to obtain an insight into the situation of professional development among teachers of English in Vietnam in the time of the Covid-19 pandemic with the aim to enhance their awareness of professional development. The results from the survey about professional development activities of K-12 English teachers from different provinces in the North of Vietnam reveal that they put much efforts into professional development in order to improve their teaching competencies and performance with the following activities: keeping and sharing teaching journals, joining peer mentoring and coaching groups, joining a teacher support group/ network/ association. The results point out the situation of professional development of K-12 teachers of English in the North of Vietnam and suggest useful pedagogical implications.
