Human rights education serves as a foundational pillar for constructing a just and equitable society. The Fifth Phase (2025-2029) of the World Programme for Human Rights Education (WPHRE), initiated by the United Nations, emphasizes the pivotal role of youth and prioritizes emerging themes such as human rights in the digital age, environmental sustainability, and gender equality. In Vietnam, human rights education has been formally integrated into the national general education curriculum; however, significant challenges remain in updating content and pedagogical approaches to align with the new global orientation, particularly at the lower secondary education level. This article examines the potential for integrating these new priority themes through interdisciplinary approaches in secondary schools. The proposed strategies not only contribute to the realization of the objectives of the Fifth Phase of the WPHRE but also aim to enhance the overall quality of education by fostering a generation of citizens equipped with comprehensive knowledge, skills, and attitudes related to human rights in an increasingly globalized and digital context.
