At the People’s Police College I, Political Education is a theoretical subject that is rated “difficult” for students. Therefore, in order to help students improve their study skills, it is required that the educational staff of the school (administrators, lecturers) understand the actual level of students’ self-study skills; thereby developing students’ appropriate learning motivation and attitude; helping them understand the content and how to apply knowledge in solving learning tasks through different forms of learning; especially, promoting students’ self-discipline, initiative, activeness and creativity in self-studying. The results revealed merely satisfactory self-study competency among the students, as students were capable of self-study at their previous educational level rather than the higher current one. A number of proposed measures are expected to help students improve their learning skills in Political Education, contributing to forming the political standpoint of People’s police officials and soldiers.
