Khó khăn và nhu cầu hỗ trợ của cha mẹ trẻ 4–10 tuổi có rối loạn âm lời nói: Nghiên cứu định tính sử dụng phỏng vấn bán cấu trúc
Tóm tắt
Speech sound disorders (SSD) may affect children’s communication, emotional well-being, social participation, and learning. However, parents’ experiences and support needs regarding children with speech sound difficulties remain underexplored in Vietnam. This study aimed to explore how parents perceived the impacts of their children’s speech sound difficulties, the challenges they encountered in supporting their children, and their needs for support. A qualitative design using semi-structured interviews was employed with 10 parents of children aged 4-10 years with speech sound difficulties. Data were analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis. The findings showed that parents identified difficulties in their children’s speech production and intelligibility and observed impacts on communication, emotions, and learning. Parents encountered challenges related to limited knowledge and skills, time constraints, inconsistent child engagement, and insufficient support resources. They expressed needs for professional assessment and support, guidance for home practice, appropriate learning materials, and stronger collaboration among families, schools, and professionals. These findings provide evidence from parents’ perspectives and may inform the development of family-centered support appropriate to the Vietnamese context.
