This article focuses on assessing the current situation of governing green growth implementation in general education institutions in Vietnam. Based on the findings, it proposes suggestions to enhance the effectiveness of governance in this area. The study involves an online survey with 12,934 school managers from country-wide general education institutions. The results indicate that Vietnamese school managers have an initial awareness of green growth and recognize the importance of actions to implement green growth in schools. However, to ensure the effectiveness of these activities, the school leaders need to establish governance orientations that are aligned with the specific context of their schools, localities, and the education sector, contributing to the implementation of the National Green Growth Strategy for the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050.
