The use of artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly widespread in all levels of education in Vietnam, including English language teaching. This study synthesizes findings from notable research published in reputable national and international journals over the past five years, focusing on ChatGPT applications in teaching the four core language skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. The findings highlight the significant benefits and potential of integrating ChatGPT into language instruction. When applied effectively, ChatGPT potentially enhances language skill development through increasing engagement, learning supports, and building learner confidence. The research findings highlight the significant potential and substantial benefits of integrating ChatGPT into the teaching of the four language skills. To further promote and sustain these benefits, this paper proposes four solutions aimed at fostering a sustainable culture of information technology use in English language teaching. Future research may further explore this topic in greater depth by utilizing studies published in more prestigious academic journals.
