In the context of global integration and Vietnam’s growing tourism industry, French has become an essential language in promoting cultural heritage and fostering international cooperation. However, the current curriculum for teaching French with a focus on tourism at Vietnamese universities remains inadequate, lacking practical elements and alignment with industry demands. This study examines the state of French language education for tourism purposes at institutions such as Hanoi University, the University of Languages and International studies, the University of Education in Ho Chi Minh City, and the University of Foreign languages in Da Nang. Data collected from 250 students and 30 lecturers revealed significant gaps in course content, teaching materials, and students’ practical skills. Based on these findings, the study purposes comprehensive solutions, including curriculum enhancements, the development of contextualized teaching materials, and stronger links with tourism enterprises to improve the quality of education and better prepare students for the workforce.
