Researching and developing the innovation-oriented smart university model in the armed forces of Vietnam is a critical and central task of reforming the education and training system in the country today. To achieve the proposed goals and requirements, it is necessary to have a scientific and methodical implementation approach and determine a suitable, effective and feasible implementation roadmap; aiming to identify, orient and set specific goals for the innovation-oriented smart university model in the armed forces. The article assesses the current status and conditions of academies and universities in the Vietnamese armed forces and proposes specific solutions to building an innovation-oriented smart university model. This is an important reference to help Vietnamese higher education institutions in general, and higher education institutions in the Vietnamese armed forces in particular, to choose the most appropriate model for their development to meet the requirements of the 4th Industrial Revolution.
