Managers’ perspectives regarding the quality of higher education are shaped with multidimensional approaches utilizing quality assessment methods including accreditation, rankings, and ratings. Particularly, numerous higher education institutions in Vietnam are intrigued by the international ranking figures. Given that there are more than 50 university rankings both globally and regionally, the one emerging question is which ranking system is dependable and appropriate for the purposes of data collection, evaluation, improvement, and enhancement of education quality. The research employs analysis and synthesis methods derived from a publicly available database of international rankings. The findings reveal that university rankings have emerged as an essential component of the higher education landscape and that both educational managers and higher education institutions are demonstrating a growing interest in international rankings, such as those designed by THE Impact, QS Asia, and Webometrics. These rankings are utilized by a significant number of higher education institutions in Vietnam. Additionally, the study puts forth a viable roadmap for ranking participation of educational establishments and, in particular, an approach from Nguyen Tat Thanh University.
