Chatbots in education are not only to develop students' interactive skills but also to support the teaching process. Chatbot applications include supporting content integration, quick access, motivation and engagement, instant support, and personalization. The article examines and evaluates the feasibility and effectiveness of a scientific hypothesis about using AI Chatbot in developing self-study ability in Chemistry for middle school students through soliciting opinions from 43 experts with the lesson “Chemical properties of metals” with the support of AI chatbot. Through expert methods, the study evaluates the importance of using AI technology in education, especially in developing students' self-learning competence. Most experts agree with the components of the self-study competence framework for Chemistry with the support of AI Chatbot, but there are still parts that are incomplete and need to be improved, especially in providing data and user interactions to improve Chatbot completeness.
