Rèn luyện kĩ năng viết luận tiếng Anh học thuật thông qua ứng dụng công cụ trí tuệ nhân tạo: Nghiên cứu hành động tại một trường đại học ở Việt Nam
Tóm tắt
This paper presents an action research investigating the impact of ChatGPT - a generative AI on the essay writing skills of EFL learners at a university in Vietnam. Despite its increasing popularity and robust potential to enhance students’ writing, research in the Vietnamese context remains scarce, especially regarding its influence on essay writing skills. This study tries to address this gap by collecting data from writing tests and semi-structured interviews. Quantitative data from the pre – tests and post – tests were analyzed using descriptive statistics to identify changes in students’ writing performance, while qualitative interview data were thematically coded to capture students’ perceptions. The findings reveal a positive impact of ChatGPT on students’ writing performances and learning experiences. We suggest that, with proper student training, ChatGPT can both support teachers in managing large-sized classes and provide students with personalized learning and improved writing outcomes. The study concludes with practical recommendations for educators and stakeholders to guide the effective implementation of AI-assisted writing.
