In the context of education that prioritises innovating teaching methods and fostering learners’ skills, the application of group discussion methods to teaching Vietnamese speaking and listening skills is substantial to improve students’ communication and collaboration competencies. However, there are certain limitations in the organization of teaching Vietnamese speaking and listening skills as well as teachers’ use of group discussion techniques. The article proposes 4 measures to organize group discussion activities in teaching speaking and listening Vietnamese in grade 10 according to the 2018 Literature General Education Program using the Literature 10 textbook (series ‘Connecting knowledge to life’) in order to efficiently overcome the difficulties when applying the technique, stimulate learners' interest in communication and promote their collaboration capacity. The research contributes to providing significant guidance for teachers, creating a foundation for improving teaching quality and meeting the requirements of the current educational program.
