In the current context, university students are expected not only to develop professional knowledge, foreign languages and information technology proficiency, but also to pay attention to enhancing their soft skills to meet the expectations of the society. This article presents the current situation of soft skills training for students of vocational colleges in Can Tho City through investigating the SEL model-based soft skill education content. The results show that soft skill training were conducted quite frequently at the selected institutions while the level of integration of these contents into those schools’ curriculum was only average. Therefore, it is recommended that teachers at vocational colleges be provided with more opportunities to access, study, and apply the SEL model into their educational activities. This result hopefully leads to the appropriate solutions, improving the efficiency of SEL model-based soft skills education in further studies.
