In teaching Mathematics, mathematical modeling competence is one of the five elements of mathematical competences that need to be formed and developed for students. Therefore, developing mathematical modeling competences for students plays an important role in teaching Mathematics, meeting the goals of current educational innovation. Teachers have focused on designing situations and problems with practical content to develop students' mathematical modeling competence. The study presents the mathematical modeling process in teaching Mathematics in high schools and illustrates this process in teaching and solving math problems on the topic “Vectors” (Math 10) at Loc Thanh High School, district Bao Lam, Lam Dong province. Experimental teaching results show that the components of mathematical modeling competence are gradually developed for students through the steps of the mathematical modeling process when students apply vector tools to solve math problems related to aircraft motion.
