Tóm tắt

Against the backdrop of international research increasingly emphasising the role of digital competence in education, alongside Vietnam’s implementation of the 2018 General Education Curriculum, promotion of digital transformation, and issuance of the 2025 Digital Competence Framework for Learners, integrating digital competence development into Vietnamese Language and Literature instruction has become a pressing imperative. This article reviews domestic and international research on integrating digital competence development into Vietnamese Language and Literature instruction in general education schools, with a focus on literary reading comprehension instruction. The study employs a problem-oriented narrative review and analyses 35 publications, most of which have been published since 2008, on digital competence in education, the integration of digital competence development into reading comprehension instruction, and its integration into literary reading comprehension instruction. The findings show that digital technologies in Vietnamese Language and Literature instruction have mainly been used as instructional support, whereas digital competence development has not yet been explicitly defined as a specific instructional objective. To address this gap, the article proposes a design framework for integrating digital competence development into literary reading comprehension instruction, comprising four interrelated components: digital competence components, reading comprehension objectives, learning products or evidence of learning, and assessment criteria. The proposed framework requires further validation through empirical research.
