The competency to explore the natural world from a physics perspective is an important component of the physics competency in the 2018 General Education Program. This study focuses on exploiting the project-based learning method to develop this competency through the topic “Physics and environmental protection education” (Physics 10). The study uses the method of theoretical analysis and pedagogical experimentation with 45 students of class 10A4 (Bac Son High School, Thai Nguyen), designing and implementing three learning projects. The experimental results show a positive change in students' learning behavior: from “need to try” to “achieve” and “do well”, especially in behaviors such as planning and proposing solutions. Students are more active in learning physics and have a clearer awareness of environmental protection. The results confirm the feasibility and pedagogical effectiveness of project-based learning in Physics. The study proposes to expand the application of this form to integrated, interdisciplinary topics that are highly topical and practical.
