Nghiên cứu mối liên hệ giữa kết nối xã hội và hiệu suất học tập ở sinh viên đại học
Tóm tắt
Given the growing emphasis of students’ holistic development in higher education, the role of social connectedness (SC) in enhancing academic performance has become a significant topic. This study explores the relationship between social connectedness and academic performance among university students in Vietnam. The present study involves 151 university students in Hanoi, Vietnam, using the Social Connectedness Scale by Lee et al. (2002) and the Academic Performance Questionnaire by Birchmeier et al. (2015). The findings indicate that each unit increase in social connectedness predicts a 35% improvement in academic performance. Students with strong social networks tend to achieve higher academic performance due to shared experiences, knowledge exchange, and increased learning motivation. Both online and offline social connections foster learning motivation, boost confidence, and enhance participation in academic activities, whereas students with weaker social connectedness often experience difficulties, loneliness, and decreased motivation. These findings suggest that universities should establish supportive social environments to enhance academic performance, promote mental well-being, and enrich students' overall learning experiences.
