Tóm tắt

Online learning is becoming increasingly prevalent in higher education; however, maintaining student motivation remains a significant challenge. This study aims to assess the perceived necessity and feasibility of measures to enhance online learning motivation among students at Can Tho University. The study employed a mixed-methods approach, combining online surveys for data collection with both qualitative and quantitative analyses. A total of 488 students and 48 lecturers participated in the survey. The results indicated that all six groups of measures were highly rated in terms of both necessity and feasibility. The group “Enhancing expectancy and task value” received the highest scores, with “Linking content to career orientation” and “Setting clear learning goals” identified as the most prominent measures. Additionally, “Timely feedback from lecturers,” “Expanding digital libraries,” and “Developing self-learning skills” were also rated highly. Pearson correlation analysis revealed a strong and statistically significant relationship between perceived necessity and feasibility (r = 0.738, p < 0.01). The findings provide a practical foundation for Can Tho University to prioritize the implementation of feasible strategies aimed at improving student motivation in online learning. These results also serve as a useful reference for other higher education institutions in Vietnam during the ongoing digital transformation of teaching and learning.
