Tóm tắt

Currently in Vietnam, studies focusing on psychological support for sexual-abused children are limited. This study was conducted to investigate the current situation of counseling service for sexual-abused children in some provinces. With a questionnaire combined with interviews with a group of 15 counselors who were experienced and qualified in counseling and psychotherapy for sexual-abused children, the researchers explored the reality of this service in Vietnam. The results focus on four main issues: (1) The counseling process for sexual-abused children was inconsistent with multiple conflicting opinions; (2) There were 3 signs that identify a child being sexual-abused by the counselor's observations: fear and vigilance, difficulty sleeping and fear of darkness, desire for privacy or isolation; (3) The counselors were fully and scientifically aware of the psychological trauma of sexual-abused children from theory to practice; (4) The use of psychological assessment tools for sexual-abused children was limited and mainly through clinical observation. These findings are an important practical basis to develop the field of counseling for sexual-abused children in Vietnam in a humane and scientific manner.
